PERF 3070/(XCOR 3020) Site-Specific Performance examines the relationship between performance and physical sites, focusing especially on the aesthetics, social critique and/or protest, and critical history of selected sites. The course will be framed as a series of performance experiments that produce public knowledge about contested sites in the New Orleans area. In the process, students will examine the interdisciplinary tradition of site-specific performance from the perspectives of performance studies and visual art. The course re-imagines learning as an embodied, situated experience that explores how social justice work might happen through publicly shared critical analysis and performance. Prerequisite(s): Students who take this course must have at least 60 credit hours (junior level status) or permission of instructor. (3)
