Professional Development

My approach to professional development is grounded in continuous learning, reflection, and adaptability. I engage in workshops, training opportunities, and scholarly communities that strengthen my teaching, research, and service, while also responding to evolving institutional, technological, and cultural contexts. This work supports my growth as a performance scholar, educator, and leader, and allows me to bring new tools, questions, and practices into the classroom and the discipline.

SWAP

I participated in the Sisters With A Purpose (S.W.A.P. Writing Workshop) hosted by Dr. Tina M. Harris in summer 2025 as a space for collective accountability, sustained writing practice, and scholarly support among women of color scholars. This community-centered approach to writing aligns with my Black feminist commitments to care, reflection, and shared knowledge-making, and has supported the development of my research and creative scholarship. Sponsored by The Waterhouse Family Institute.

CAT + FD

I regularly engage with the Center for Advancement of Teaching and Faculty Development office at Xavier through workshops, writing groups, and faculty portfolio initiatives. This work has supported my teaching development, portfolio preparation, and reflective practice, while also strengthening my ability to document and communicate the impact of my teaching, research, and service.

Adobe

I have completed multiple Adobe Education webinars and conference virtual summits focused on artificial intelligence and digital tools for teaching and creative work. These seminars have informed how I integrate AI ethically and design programs thoughtfully into my pedagogy, particularly in relation to digital performance, multimodal assignments, and student-centered learning.

Grant Writing

I have participated in grant-writing workshops hosted by Tulane University and the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development. These trainings have strengthened my understanding of funding structures, proposal development, and strategies for aligning creative and scholarly projects with public and institutional funding priorities. This professional development supports my ongoing efforts to secure resources for performance-based research, student-centered initiatives, and collaborative cultural projects.
