Teaching and Pedagogy
This section of my digital portfolio gives you a closer look at my work as a teacher, mentor, and collaborator with students.
Since joining in Fall 2023, I’ve taught a wide range of courses across Performance Studies, Women’s Studies, English, Mass Communication, and the Core Curriculum. Many of these courses were either newly developed or hadn’t been taught in years, giving me the opportunity to build them from the ground up. I see that challenge as a privilege—one that lets me bring fresh energy, creativity, and care into the classroom.
My teaching is grounded in Black feminist thought and Performance Studies. In other words, I teach social issues, critical thinking, creative expression, and embodied learning in every course. Students work with theory, performative texts, and cultural artifacts while practicing methods such as analysis, reflection, and performance-making to understand how meaning is constructed and communicated.
In this section, you’ll find:
-
My approach to teaching and classroom values
-
Selected courses I’ve taught and designed
-
Reflections on mentorship, collaboration, and what it means to teach at an HBCU
-
Highlights of student work that show off their creativity, growth, and critical thinking
I believe the classroom should be a space where students feel seen, supported, and challenged. Whether we’re staging a site-specific performance or workshopping a digital story, my goal is to help students trust their voice, sharpen their ideas, and take pride in their work. Teaching is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do and I’m excited to share it with you here.

This section features representative syllabi, assignments, and course materials that demonstrate how I design learning experiences across interdisciplinary programs.

Here you’ll find examples of teaching-related recognition, reflections, and acknowledgments that reflect the impact of my pedagogical work within and beyond the classroom.

This section includes student reflections and feedback that speak to learning outcomes, classroom climate, and student engagement in my courses.
