Service to the University
This page reflects the service I have devoted to the University and future opportunities I hope to keep growing. I hope to bring more attention to the discipline, but also to help build a new narrative for performing arts in the next century at Xavier.

Program Director
I assumed the role of Program Director for Performance Studies in February 2025 during a period of significant teaching responsibility. At the time, I was teaching a five-course load, including a last-minute request to teach XCOR 1000, following a previous semester with a 13-credit-hour teaching load. Despite these demands, I stepped into program leadership to ensure continuity, stability, and growth for the Performance Studies program. Since, we have gained 1 PERF major and 4 declared minors. This is important to note as previous majors were incorrectly placed into the program.

In this role, I oversee curriculum development and revision for the PERF program, including revising the PERF curriculum, selecting textbooks for PERF 1000, and creating, organizing, and maintaining core instructional materials (syllabi, assignment descriptions, rubrics, and course resources) across all major PERF courses. While I now receive a course release for this work, I remain the sole full-time faculty member in the program and continue to maintain additional responsibilities, including serving as the Student Involvement Contact and coordinating the annual Petit Jean Performance Festival student trip.
Academic Council
I nominated myself to serve on Academic Council beginning in Fall 2025, recognizing the importance of Performance Studies representation within university-wide governance. Although the role of Performance Studies Coordinator is already a leadership position within the department, I sought this appointment to contribute more directly to institutional decision-making and shared governance.

My service on Academic Council complements my broader departmental responsibilities, which include recruitment, hiring and scheduling for PERF courses, attending bi-weekly leadership meetings with the Department Head of Art, and developing alternative communication strategies to support PERF adjunct faculty. Together, these efforts reflect my commitment to transparent leadership, faculty support, and institutional collaboration.
Student Club Advisor
I am currently working toward restarting Nubian Xpressions, a student performance organization, with a planned relaunch in Fall 2026. The goal is to establish a central club for students interested in performing arts that is nurtured by faculty with the specific skillset.
Previously, I served as the founding advisor for NOLA Bookworms during the 2024–2025 academic year. Recognizing the evolving needs of the organization, I recommended Dr. Jennifer Morrison as a successor advisor, as the role became better aligned with English. This transition reflects my approach to student advising and prioritizing sustainability for long-term student success.
Speaking Requests
I regularly contribute to campus intellectual life through invited speaking and facilitation. These engagements include speaking in Dr. Jennifer Morrison’s class in Spring 2024, presenting in a CAT+FD workshop on Using AI in the Classroom in Fall 2024, and introducing special guest Dr. Hartman prior to her formal campus talk in March 2025. These invitations reflect my ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue, pedagogical development, and campus-wide collaboration.
